Home Energy Checkup employs the latest high-tech tools to find hidden
sources of energy loss
Tracking down energy loss requires more than just a keen eye. For this
reason, Home Energy Checkup employs the latest tools to uncover trouble spots,
both seen and unseen:
Blower door— Tests building air leakage rate and locates the source of
individual leaks
Ductblaster— Operates like a “mini” blower door to check for leaks in
heating and cooling ductwork.
Infrared camera— Sometimes called a thermal imaging camera,
this device monitors heat signatures behind walls. Used with a blower door to
find air leaks and insufficient insulation.
Combustion analyzer— Scans water heaters and furnaces to check gas and
oil combustion safety and efficiency.
Flow hood — Measures air flow rates to rooms and from the furnace/AC
system. Used to adjust the amount of air delivered.
Datalogger — Monitors temp, humidity and electrical usage over time.
Data collected is later downloaded into a computer for analysis.
Refrigerant analyzer— Ensures proper refrigerant levels in the AC
unit.
Smoke pencil— Visually shows air flow direction.
Draft gauge— Measures draft of water heater and furnace to ensure
proper venting of combustion gases.
Foam gun— Seals large air leaks.
Insulation blower— Fills attic and walls with insulation.
Computer Software — Various programs use your homes utility bills and
energy features to estimate energy usage and calculate utility bill reduction
opportunities.
By using these high-tech tools, Home Energy Checkup guarantees your home
receives the most thorough home performance tune-up possible. |
